The West Sussex Art Society was founded in 1929 for the purpose of promoting the Arts among a select group of working artists, and providing a forum to discuss both traditional and modern art along with exhibition opportunities. On the second Saturday of each month the society holds professional criticisms, demonstrations and lectures on the arts as well as occasional workshops. The membership consists of a broad mix of amateur, semi-professional and professional artists, producing a wide variety of work, ranging from traditional through to the more abstract and conceptual. Our annual exhibition has been held at Worthing Museum / Art gallery for the last sixty years. Two years ago, for the first time, we opted for an alternative venue; the Oxmarket Centre of Arts at Chichester, which proved to be an excellent choice and we will be exhibiting there again this year. People interested in becoming Members of the Society should contact the Secretary , Mrs Marina Burgess, who will send an application form which gives details of how to apply. Secretary: Marina Burgess, Tel. 01903 532193 , e-mail : marinaburgess@hotmail.co.uk and ask for details. The new yearly subscription of £25.00 will be due at the Annual General Meeting on September 12th 2009.
